Nice photos! I was in the parade (in the pipeband) - it was my first time and I enjoyed it a lot. I had a good time at the Dubliner later on, it's a fun day!
Lothiane, the band did a fab job. I felt sorry for you though as it must have been cold. Impressed at the stamina it must take to walk and blow into instruments at the same time, especially with chilly fingers. Four and a half years, and I've never been in The Dubliner. Kind of funny, because when I lived in Dublin, hardly a night went by without a trip to the pub :-)
Thanks! It was quite cold, yes. It was okay for me as I play tenor drum, but the pipers had quite frozen fingers. The instruments aren't very fond of cold weather, so I'm just happy the pipes didn't cut. :)
I like the Dubliner pub, although on St. Pat's it's quite filled up and hard to find a table. I prefer it on quieter nights, but I'm not there very often.
Next month I'm going to Dublin, my very first trip to Ireland. Looking forward to exploring! :)
Lothiane, have a great trip to Dublin. Sam, the little girl with the two flags is half-Norwegian, half-Irish, so the two flags reflected this which I think was fair enough given that the parade was in Norway. I wouldn't think it strange to see an American flag at a New York St Patrick's Day parade either. It's a nod to the host country. I don't own a tricolour (or a flag pole) so have never been tempted to raise a flag on May 17th.
oh thats fair enough i suppose. though im half irish/half english and id look like a right prat flying the british flag on st patricks day! it might even be seen as offensive y'know with the centuries of oppression n all... hmm
Thanks JEDA. I think it's nice to reflect dual nationalities as you do I think you hit the nail on the head Sam. I wouldn't raise a Danish flag on May 17th, or even worse a Swedish one, as that would probably cause offense for historical reasons; as Ireland & Norway are such 'good friends' it's not an issue.

My kids carry American flags on 17. Mai. But I must admit, in my case I encourage it in a not so subtle subversive kind of way...shame on me.
I like the collages. Looks like it was quite a party.

LOVE the photos!
Thanks Miranda. It's amazing what a bit of colour can do to brighten up a drab day.
Great post and wonderful post. I was there too and I think we might have bumped into each other when running around shooting pics.
Your welcome to read my post too :-)
Thanks Renny. Had a look at your pics and they're fab, and very high tech. You've made my collage look like a throw-back to the last century :)
