I wouldn't raise a Danish flag on May 17th, or even worse a Swedish one, as that would probably cause offense for historical reasons; as Ireland & Norway are such 'good friends' it's not an issue.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06840475795135915167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16463838.post-83390059076894323212009-03-16T08:15:00.000+01:002009-03-16T08:15:00.000+01:00oh thats fair enough i suppose. though im half iri...oh thats fair enough i suppose. though im half irish/half english and id look like a right prat flying the british flag on st patricks day! it might even be seen as offensive y'know with the centuries of oppression n all... hmmAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16463838.post-71673517464769061962009-03-15T21:53:00.000+01:002009-03-15T21:53:00.000+01:00My kids carry American flags on 17. I wouldn't think it strange to see an American flag at a New York St Patrick's Day parade either. It's a nod to the host country. I don't own a tricolour (or a flag pole) so have never been tempted to raise a flag on May 17th.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06840475795135915167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16463838.post-71808737919310280912009-03-15T17:00:00.000+01:002009-03-15T17:00:00.000+01:00erm whats with the norwegian flag on st paddys day...erm whats with the norwegian flag on st paddys day?! do you fly the tricolour on constitution day?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16463838.post-47579710120648117922009-03-15T14:37:00.000+01:002009-03-15T14:37:00.000+01:00Thanks! The instruments aren't very fond of cold weather, so I'm just happy the pipes didn't cut. :)

I like the Dubliner pub, although on St. Pat's it's quite filled up and hard to find a table. I prefer it on quieter nights, but I'm not there very often.

Next month I'm going to Dublin, my very first trip to Ireland. Looking forward to exploring! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16463838.post-54041685114752265162009-03-15T14:04:00.000+01:002009-03-15T14:04:00.000+01:00Lothiane, the band did a fab job. Impressed at the stamina it must take to walk and blow into instruments at the same time, especially with chilly fingers. Four and a half years, and I've never been in The Dubliner. Kind of funny, because when I lived in Dublin, hardly a night went by without a trip to the pub :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06840475795135915167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16463838.post-81505636836614623172009-03-15T12:59:00.000+01:002009-03-15T12:59:00.000+01:00Nice photos!I was in the parade (in the pipeband) ...Nice photos!
I was in the parade (in the pipeband) - it was my first time and I enjoyed it a lot.
