This year's winner of the Nobel Peace Prize has just been announced in Oslo as
MARTTI AHTISAARI
the former president of Finland and prominent peace negotiator.
Well I guess the Chinese will be happy that none of their 'troublemakers' got it. It's probably not a massive surprise either as Mr Ahtisari has been considered a frontrunner for the prize over the past three or four years. I guess it's like getting an Oscar nomination year after year, going home empty-handed, and finally being called to the podium as the winner.

Okay, I confess I know nothing about this guy. I feel like a such a dork - clearly living in suburbia does rot the brain.
Well he does have an excellent rep as a mediator. As you say - no surprise.
